Greg, had some questions I thought I'd post so others could see and chime in.

Was thinking about taking or eating Maca.  I went to a local healthfood store and they only had capsules  The brand was Natures way and the ingedients had Maca root and extract.  Do you have an opinion on these and this brand?

I've read about Chlorella.  I bought some tablets and the brand I bought was :source naturals - Yaeyama. The fellow in the store told me he thought this was a better product, that it was from Japan where they have been consuming Chlorella for centuries.  Any thoughts or advice. I've read that it is good for you but the indgredients don't show much in the way of vitamins.  Lot's of Chlorella growth factor----whatever that does.

The other thing the guy told me is that if I'm interested in supplementing my diet the first thing I should tke is probiotics.  I picked up some literature but did not buy anything at this point.  Do you take these or does anyone else out there?

Hey Pete,

Personally, I buy Maca in powder form and mix it with my hemp and/or rice protein. The name of the product is "Maca Power" (raw maca powder) from Navitas Naturals.

As for chlorella and spirulina, I get in tablet form from http://www.watershed.net/ On that site that have tons of info about both, so dig in and enjoy.

As for probiotics, I dont take any at the moment, not counting my two daily Green Cambucha bottles, which contain quite a bit actually, but I think that taking probiotics is a great idea.

Hope that help my friend, how is your training?

Thanks Greg.  Training is fine.  I strained my back a little doing deck squats with a 35lb Kbell.  Might have overdone it.  My weight is down about 5 pounds.  Progress is slow but steady.

I'm trying to develop some changes to my diet and trying some different things.  I got and read the book you recommended and even bought some of Brenden's product called Vega.  It doesn't taste very good so I'm not sure if I'll buy more.  Meanwhile I'm consuming more vegetables, and taking Maca in capsule form along once capsule a day of probiotics and some Chlorella tablets.

I have never tried Vega, but I like Brandan's book. What do you mix it with? Try avocados, oj or some other juices

Just water.  I guess I should try putting some other stuff with it to enhance the taste.  In the advertising is says you don't need to.  But trust me, you would want to.  I have to hold my nose to get it down.

Have you tried the Chlorella powder? I wonder how it tastes. I think that I would prefer to use powder over tablets, but not if it tastes bad.

hey Pete I don't know if you're a vegan or not but abundant probiotic content can be found in yogurt.  I eat Stony field organic greek yogurt (which has an amazing amount of protein per serving, 16-24 depending on the type).  Also as Greg mentioned Combucha is always good.  There is a type of hemp protein (I think the company is Nutiva?) that has hemp in it.  Just type hemp protein in vitaminshoppe.com and you'll find it.  I heard serving wise that's pretty good.

gdsaunders and Pete,

I've tried crushing chlorella tablets and ate the powder -- it tastes pretty good.

I haven't tried chlorella yet, but plan to.  I've been using a raw maca powed from sun foods, which I mix with my shakes.  I recently started using bee pollen, which is touted as one of the most complete foods in nature, and find it to be quite a good product (http://www.sunfood.com/buy/1/18/468/Bee-Pollen--Sunfood-Nutrition---raw--wildcrafted-/1018.aspx).

I completely agree with John that bee pollen is awesome, both taste wise and how good it is for ya.
